We are a world wide Christian organisation. Our purpose is the advancement of Christ's kingdom amongst boys.

On Friday nights Melbourne Hall is host to our company, the 8th Leicester Company, consisting of approximately 60 boys. We are divided up into three main sections - Trekkers for 5-8 year olds, Junior section for 8-11 year olds and Senior/Company section for 11 - 18 year olds. We are a uniformed organisation - each section having it's own variation.

Trekkers - meet weekly from 6pm until 7.15pm. The night consists of Inspection, Games, Crafts and Bible Time. A points system is in place to encourage the boys to maintain their appearance, punctuality and to encourage other boys to join the Brigade. The Trekkers wear red jumpers, dark trousers and dark shoes and the Boys Brigade hat which is inspected each week. They play a wide variety of games including hot rice, relay races, football, and basket-ball amongst others. The Crafts range from cooking to puppet-making and the boys enjoy getting involved as much as possible and presenting their finished products to their parents at the end of the evening. The Bible time is the most important part of the evening when the Officers teach the boys regarding Christ and Christianity from the Bible. We aim to encourage the boys to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour at as early an age as possible.

Junior Section - meet weekly from 6.30pm until 8.30pm. The evening is structured in a similar way to that of the Trekkers. The Junior Section wear navy blue jumpers, dark trousers, dark shoes and the Boys Brigade hat.

Senior/Company Section - meet weekly from 7.15pm until 9.30pm. This is our largest section at present. Once the boys reach this section the classes become more structured around a badge scheme involving physical, adventure, spiritual and craft themes. The boys work towards gaining the highest attainable badge, the Queens Badge, equivalent to a silver award in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. We are involved in inter-company activities including football tournaments, athletics, road walking, snooker, badminton and more. The section wears a black blazer with white shirt, black trousers and black shoes, the Boys brigade hat, a haversack and a leather belt. Again the main aim is to promote Christ among these boys and this is done through Bible time each weeks and Bible Class on Sunday mornings prior to the morning service at Melbourne Hall.
